CELEBRATING ABILITY THROUGH INCLUSIVE SPORTS: AAGAZ 2025

The Neuroaid and Research Foundation (NRF) had the privilege of providing therapy services to athletes of  Aagaz 2025, a pan-disability sports and athletic festival,  organized on 7th December 2025 at Maitreyi College, University of Delhi, on the occasion of  International World Disability Day observed on December 3rd every year.   The event was a powerful celebration of inclusivity, resilience, and sporting excellence, bringing together athletes of diverse abilities on one common platform.

Through its active involvement in Aagaz 2025, NRF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity and enhancing the overall well-being of the Divyang and special communities engaged in sports activities.

The event was organized by Umoya Sports, founded and led by Mr. Aditya KV (Founder & CEO), whose vision focuses on empowering children with and without disabilities, while building a truly inclusive culture through sports. This vision came alive at Aagaz 2025, where ability took center stage beyond perceived limitations.

Ms. Manmeet Kaur Nanda, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, graced the occasion as Chief Guest;  other distinguished dignitaries included Ms. Gulshan, Para Athlete, Indian Judo Player and World Champion Sprinter; and Mr. Ankur Dhama, Para Athlete, Indian Guide Runner and Arjuna Awardee (2018). Their inspiring journeys and encouraging presence significantly motivated the athletes and reinforced the true spirit of inclusive sports.

This special event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 475+ athletes representing over 20 schools and organizations like the National Association for the Blind, Action for Autism besides  Special Schools, that brought with them the  dignity, impact and power of unity and inclusivity.

Role of Physiotherapy at Aagaz

To ensure the safety, sustain performance, and maintain the well-being of all participants, NRF served as Umoya’s Rehabilitation & Therapy Partner, providing comprehensive on-field and off-field physiotherapy support throughout the event.

Physiotherapy played a pivotal role in enabling athletes to participate safely and confidently. With athletes representing a wide range of disabilities and sporting abilities, continuous on-ground monitoring was essential for injury prevention and optimal performance.

Structured warm-up and cool-down sessions were conducted and customized according to individual needs, helping athletes prepare for physical activity and recover effectively  post-performance. Constant observation helped early identification of fatigue, muscle strain and movement inefficiencies, thus enabling timely interventions and minimizing the risk of injuries.

Additionally, physiotherapists actively engaged with athletes, parents, and coaches, gaining insights into individual sporting journeys and physical challenges. Immediate guidance was provided on posture, mobility, muscle balance, and adaptive strategies. This comprehensive and athlete-centered approach not only enhanced performance, but also fostered confidence, safety, and empowerment among participants.

NRF extends its heartfelt gratitude to the student volunteers from G.D. Goenka University and DPSRU, whose enthusiasm, commitment, and support played a vital role in the smooth execution of the event.

The organizers gratefully  appreciated the efforts and support extended by the NRF team throughout Aagaz 2025 and expressed their desire to enter into a healthy and fruitful collaboration in the future.

NRF strongly believes that Sports  serve as a powerful medium for inclusion, empowerment, and transformation—where ability shines beyond disability.
