PURPLE FEST 2025: SHOWCASING INCLUSION THROUGH TOUCH & TECH

The Neuroaid and Research Foundation, in collaboration with Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (Divyangjan) participated in Purple Fest 2025, held in Goa from 9th to 12th October 2025, under the theme Touch and Tech” along with Shama Foundation and Sensitivity. The four-day participation reflected how therapy, education, and technology can come together to promote inclusion and participation for persons with disabilities.

Day 1 – Launching Innovation and Inclusion

The stall opened with enthusiasm, showcasing Occupational Therapy-based tools.

A key attraction was the integration of AR/VR-based demonstrations in collaboration with Sparsh Mind Innovations (NRF’s Tech partner), offering school children an immersive, hands-on understanding of how technology can aid learning and daily living skills. The Touch aspect came alive through storytelling sessions by the author Mr Sumit Sehgal (NRF’s Touch Partner) that emphasized empathy, creativity, and inclusion. A key highlight was the launch of two NRF Resources by Shri Rajesh Aggarwal (IAS), Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities  —

  • “Legal Rights of Children with Disabilities in India”
  • “Quiet Corners, Bright Worlds- Storytelling Book for Children with Special Needs.”

Both books were warmly appreciated for their role in spreading awareness and fostering inclusive education.

Day 2 – Immersive Learning and Engagement

Day 2 carried forward the enthusiasm with interactive storytelling sessions, AR/VR demonstrations, and lively exchanges with visitors.

The team had the honour of hosting Smt. Debolina Thakur, Joint Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, whose appreciation and encouraging words added great motivation. Children actively participated in exploring immersive technologies that demonstrated how innovation can enhance functional independence and learning for children with special needs.

A memorable highlight was the visit of Mr. Rahul Bajaj (Lawyer), a previous NRF webinar speaker, who signed a copy of the Legal Rights book as a token of collaboration and continued advocacy.

The day’s interactions with parents, professionals, and delegates reinforced the message of inclusion, collaboration, and shared learning.

Day 3 – Media Outreach and Collaboration

The third day focused on media interactions and professional networking, spotlighting the role of Occupational Therapy in enabling participation across life stages. Through thoughtful discussions with media representatives, the team presented the theme of “Touch and Tech”, explained the collaborative essence of the stall, and introduced NRF’s key publications — “Legal Rights Handbook” and “Quiet Corners, Bright Worlds: The Art and Science of Storytelling for Children with Special Needs.”

Meaningful exchanges with visitors, parents, and experts fostered collaboration and raised awareness about early intervention, inclusive education, and community participation.
Day 3 beautifully embodied the spirit of connection, communication, and collective growth.

Day 4 – Celebrating Inclusion and Gratitude

The final day began on an energizing note with a Chair Yoga session conducted by the team of Occupational Therapists from PDUNIPPD, emphasizing accessible wellness and mindful movement for all.

A memorable highlight was the visit of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Pramod Sawant, whose presence recognized the collaborative efforts toward inclusion.

Goodwill Diyas were shared with visitors, and Diyas of Gratitude were presented to Purple Fest volunteers, closing the event on a heartfelt, hopeful note.
